Admission of preprints
Definition
A preprint is a manuscript based on research that has not yet gone through the peer review process, usually deposited by the author in open access preprint repositories prior to submission to a scientific journal. For more information, see ASAPbio.
Preprint repositories
Currently, Cadernos do Arquivo Municipal only accepts preprints deposited in SciELO Preprints and SocArXiv.
Submission criteria
Cadernos do Arquivo Municipal accepts manuscript submissions in preprint according to the following criteria:
. They must comply with the journal's Publication Guidelines. They may not be submitted simultaneously to another journal;
. They will be submitted to the editorial process of selection, revision and publication of Cadernos do Arquivo Municipal, which includes preliminary analysis by the executive editors (and coordinator if applicable) and peer review (see Publication Guidelines);
. Preprints accepted after editorial selection will be subject to a semi-open peer review process, i.e. with the anonymity of the scientific reviewers;
. When submitting a preprint, the author(s) must provide Cadernos do Arquivo Municipal with information on the date of deposit, the URL and DOI of the document generated in the preprint repository.
Ethics and Good Practices
Cadernos do Arquivo Municipal adopts international standards for scientific publications and is committed to a policy of Publication Ethics and Best Practice Information. Authors of preprints are expected to follow these recommendations, specifically item 3.
Publication in Cadernos do Arquivo Municipal
After publication, the journal will make the DOI of the article available. When necessary, the author(s) should inform the repository in which it was originally published.
Updating the Preprints Policy
The executive editors of Cadernos do Arquivo Municipal reserve the right to update the journal's preprints policy when there are changes to good practice in open science that justify it.
