Abstract

Based on the documentation preserved in the Lisbon Municipal Archive, we analyse, for the period between 1732 and 1770, the way in which the normative production shaped and structured the activity of the officials in the booksbinder and bookseller's trade, focusing on the practices of vindication, certification and fiscalization generated by those who had the tutelage or were tutored by the regulatory device supported by the municipal administrative structure.
