Eighteenth-century Lisbon, Colina de Santana, Palace of Bemposta, Pedro II, Catherine of BraganzaAbstract
The present study about the built environment surrounding the palace of Bemposta, seeks to understand the growth of this place, the increase of its population, particularly of higher position, determined by the presence of D. Catarina de Bragança and other royal elements since 1701/1702, and also realize the relationship with the major religious clusters, that have marked the toponymy. To understand this phenomenon, we have used, among many other collections that we refer throughout this study, several archival collections, such as Consultas e Decretos and Cordeamentos from Municipal Archive of Lisbon.
