Built between Desterro and Arroios, the first section of the Almirante Reis Avenue materialized the 1877 Avenida dos Anjos project. Between 1889 and 1928 four neighbourhoods (Andrade, Castelinhos, Braz Simões or Inglaterra and Colónias) took shape around it, with different features that reflect the moments they were built. This article attempts to trace the development of the Almirante Reis Avenue and these four neighborhoods.
