This article is dedicated to a Lisbon painter and gilder, who has practice his metier in the reign of D. João V. From an historical perspective, it aims to give a contribution to the study of his craft and especially to characterize the socio-economic status of this kind of artist in the first half of the eighteenth century, helping to complete his biography and correcting some less rigorous information.
