This work aims to provide new contributions to the understanding of the living conditions of the working classes in Lisbon, their diet, and the dynamics of food aid in the capital, between the late 19th century and the early decades of the 20th century, through the case of the Soup Kitchens of Lisbon. This study will analyse various topics, including the concepts and models that led to the establishment of the Soup kitchens, the constitution and administration of these institutions in Lisbon, and the number and composition of the meals distributed.
